After eight weeks of shirt hunting, I went into this week with a budget of €76, which was very handy as it was probably my busiest week of hunting and my budget took a very large dent.
I started the week at my local car boot sale, it was a rainy Sunday morning and I was not expecting much, when I got to the car boot sale I was expecting even less as only two stalls was open.
Thankfully both stalls had something to offer, the first had two Cork GAA shirts for sale at €5 each, one was the jersey from 2013 and the other was a player-issued training shirt, the player is former all-Ireland winner Aidan Walsh, I sold the 2013 shirt very quickly for €40 and the player issue shirt is still for sale on my Depop store.
If that was all I got at the car boot sale I would have been happy but when I was walking towards the second rail I could see an Eircom League badge from the distance, I rushed over and took the item from the railing and what I saw was a fantastic Limerick FC goalkeeper shirt from around 2005, I believe this to be match worn as you could not buy these shirts locally and the players themselves would only have had a few jerseys for the entire season, if anyone knows who the mysterious number 18 is do let me know, this jersey is staying in my personal collection and it only cost me €3.
But just behind that shirt was another football shirt, this one was very special and when I took this off the rail I was expecting to see a score draw label, but nope it was an original Tottenham Hotspur 1992-1994 away jersey, worn by the likes of Teddy Sheringham and Jurgen Klinsmann, this set me back another €3 and is probably my best find to date, if interested in this shirt please visit my Depop store.
With car booting done I moved off to the Charity Shops where in the first store I managed to pick up was I thought was a Brazil shirt from 2008, but turns out it was a fake, but I did manage to pick up an authentic Barcelona 2018/19 home shirt with a Messi name set included, it was well worn but for €4 for both shirts I could not turn them down.
Moving on to shop number two and another Barcelona shirt, this time it was in pristine condition, it was a home shirt from the 2016/17 season and I also managed to pick up an Arsenal shirt with an Oliver Giroud name set included also in pristine condition, both shirts came in at a combined €22.
In the last store, I visited I managed to pick up something that I think is even better than the Tottenham Hotspur shirt, a Munster Rugby shirt from 2017 which was signed by such players as Keith Earls, JJ Hanrahan and Peter O’Mahoney, along with many more, it cost €25 but I had no hesitation in picking this up as I had valued it in around €100 and if it does not sell I can always frame and hang it up on my wall, I also managed to get a South Africa shirt from 2006 in a small for €5 in the same shop.
So ends another week of shirt hunting, I went in with a budget of €76 and spent €67, I did manage to make a profit of €35 on the Cork shirt but as I did manage to sell any other shirts I will go into next week with a budget of €44 (35 profit from this week and 9 left over from previous week).
