After last week’s football shirt hunt, I had €37 profit to play around with, so I hit the streets in search of more football shirts that I could either flip or add to my personal collection.
The first pickup was a Fabian Barthez Manchester United shirt from 2002-02 seasons, it was an extra small and cost €5 and as I previously explained I would never keep a United shirt in my personal collection but I did know there was a market for retro United shirts out there, I was able to quickly flip this for €20 within a couple of days of purchase.
Profit: €15
My very first football jacket pickup was an Umbro Republic of Ireland training jacket, not sure what year this was from but as it was an XL and fitted me perfectly I decided to pick this up for €5 to add to my own personal collection, for those interested in knowing what I am looking to add to my personal collection it is any shirt or jacket that fits me and the only English club I would keep is Liverpool.
Loss: €5 as kept in the personal collection
I have done really well out of Manchester United shirts so far, so when I spotted a home shirt from the 2018/19 season with Alexis’ name set included for €10 I did not hesitate to pick this up, however when I got home and checked the Adidas code I found this to be a fake, I would never try to sell fakes so this has no value and it went straight back in the Charity Shop collection bin.
Loss: €10
Another pointless purchase was this Real Madrid fan-type t-shirt, looking back not even sure why I picked this up as it was quite obviously a fake, it only cost me €5 but like the Manchester United shirt, it went straight back into the Charity Shop collection bin.
Loss: €5
So going into this week I did have a profit of €37 and after selling one shirt and binning two others and my only sale being the Barthez Manchester United shirt, my profit remained at €37, however, I am taking €5 off of this as I am keeping the Irish training jacket, which means next week I go in with a €32 budget.
