Those of you who read last week’s blog will know I picked up a limited edition shirt without knowing what it even was, but this week I know exactly what I was getting when I spotted a special edition Arsenal 2005 home kit for sale.
The seller wanted €5 and I quickly paid up before they could change their mind, it was a size large and when I got home I quickly checked to make sure it was legit, the Nike code 195578 confirmed my initial belief that this was an authentic version
The Arsenal 2005 home kit was worn to celebrate the club’s final year at Highbury before moving to the Emirates Stadium and it was recently voted the best Arsenal shirt of the Premier League era by Planet Football.
Arsenal didn’t win the league that year but still had an eventful season. It was Dennis Bergkamp’s last season as a professional player, and the club reached its first Champions League final, knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus along the way.
However, as a Liverpool fan, I had no intention of adding it to my collection so I instead traded this with another shirt collector for two Liverpool shirts, the 1989 & 1996 home shirts (club shop versions), this means next week my budget does drop to €112 but I have now added two more Liverpool shirts to my every growing collection.
